NV Dems Continues “Doormat for Donald” Tour at Las Vegas Small Business Pummeled By Lombardo-Backed Tariffs
Today, NV Dems continued our “Doormat for Donald” tour with Teamsters members, a small business owner, and student to remind voters that Joe Lombardo is solely focused on being Donald Trump’s doormat instead of lowering Nevadans’ costs.
Lombardo embraces Trump’s illegal tariffs — even saying Nevadans should “feel a little pain” from this erratic trade agenda. And this “pain” has been nonstop with plummeting tourism, worsening unemployment, and sky-high grocery bills. As we approach Election Day, Lombardo is going to have to answer for putting their cost-raising agenda over Nevada families.
“Over the last few years we’ve seen a rapid decline in tourism in Las Vegas,” Good Morning Kitchen co-owner Kristen Corra said. “Lombardo has frankly had years to figure out a strategy to improve tourism for the state of Nevada and specifically Las Vegas and he’s failed. So our businesses are paying the price; when tourism declines it affects every business across Las Vegas, not just the Strip.”
“Lombardo is busy rallying with a president who said ‘affordability is a hoax’ and even saying himself that Nevadans like me should ‘feel a little pain’ from Trump’s tariffs.” UNLV student Christopher Romero said. “Well, I feel this pain every day I attend class. Wondering if I can even afford the next month. I feel this pain when I go home and see my family worrying about the financial stability of our home. I feel this pain every time I have to debate whether or not college is an option for me because of the rising costs. And I know hundreds of thousands of Nevadans can relate to this ‘pain’ that Joe Lombardo so insensitively promised.”
“Nevada used to be a state where you could come and afford housing, gas, food. … When my [Teamster] colleagues go to the negotiating table, it is extremely hard to keep up with the rising cost of living,” Teamsters member Beverely Williams said. “Instead of Joe Lombardo being a doormat for Donald Trump, it is time to elect Aaron Ford to be the next governor.”
“The governor made it very clear he doesn’t give a damn about you, doesn’t give a damn about me. All he’s concerned about is Trump and his billionaire friends,” Teamsters member Tamara Jamison said. “Trump’s billionaire friends don’t care about Nevadans having jobs and don’t care about union jobs.”
