US intel chief urges Barack Obama’s prosecution
In a statement on Friday, Tulsi Gabbard alleged that Obama-era officials fabricated intelligence to support claims that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election in favor of Trump. She said their actions laid the foundation for what became a prolonged effort to delegitimize Trump's presidency.
“The information we are releasing today clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of our government,” Gabbard stated. “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup.”
Gabbard emphasized that accountability must be enforced regardless of status or influence. “No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again,” she said.
The comments mark one of the most direct calls yet for legal action against members of a former administration over the handling of the Trump-Russia narrative.
